Have You Been Experiencing These Symptoms?

Weight gain can present itself in several ways, and the indicators may vary from person to person. This can involve a noticeable increase in overall body size and weight, often resulting in clothing feeling tighter or no longer fitting comfortably. Changes in body shape may become apparent, with fat accumulation in specific areas such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, or arms. Individuals may experience decreased energy levels, feeling sluggish or experiencing a reduction in physical stamina. Additionally, extra weight can lead to joint discomfort or pain, and in some cases, individuals may notice digestive issues like acid reflux or indigestion.

Changes in skin appearance, such as stretch marks or alterations in texture, may also become more noticeable. Emotionally, weight gain can bring about feelings of frustration, lowered self-esteem, or even symptoms of depression. Eating patterns might change, with an increased appetite or specific cravings, and in some cases, hormonal imbalances may be associated with weight gain, leading to symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles in women or changes in libido in both men and women. Seeking advice from a healthcare professional is important to identify underlying causes and develop a tailored plan for maintaining a healthy weight.

Our Weight Loss Process

At MAA, we emphasize that the cornerstone of any successful weight loss journey begins with exercise and nutrition. However, despite our best efforts, many times we are unable to reach or maintain our weight goals. We are fortunate to have treatments that have been shown to be very effective for weight loss. Medications like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro have garnered a lot of attention for their success with weight loss. These are name brand medications used to treat Diabetes (Ozempic and Mounjaro) and obesity (Wegovy).

These medications are made of peptides (Semaglutide and Tirzepatide) that work by activating receptors in the body that play a role in regulating appetite and metabolism. Tirzepatide, under brand name Mounjaro, is FDA approved to treat patients with Type II Diabetes and is being used “off-label” for weight loss. In clinical trials, Tirzepatide has been shown to produce significant weight loss in individuals with diabetes and obesity, as well as improvements in other markers of health such as blood sugar control and cardiovascular risk factors.

What Is Weight Loss With Tirzepatide:

Tirzepatide is unique because it is the first medication that combines two classes of medication: a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist and a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist. This makes Tirzepatide a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist. Together, these functions work through the gut-brain axis to achieve the following:

Who Is Right For MAA’s Weight Loss Program With Tirzepatide?

Although Tirzepatide is only FDA approved under the name Mounjaro for patients with Type II Diabetes, it is widely being used “off-label” for weight loss. Patients with obesity are good candidates for treatment. In addition, patients who are overweight and have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, PCOS, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance are also good candidates for weight loss with Tirzepatide.

How Do I Get Started On Tirzepatide And What Does Treatment Look Like?

Our process is simple and easy. You will meet with one of our specialists who will discuss your reasons for seeking treatment and goals. Once this is complete, we will consult with our team of clinicians to determine if Tirzepatide is appropriate for you. An extensive blood panel will be obtained and you will review your results with our prescribing provider who will customize a treatment protocol just for you. Your prescribed treatments will be mailed to you to carry out in the comfort of your own home.

Tirzepatide is injected in the subcutaneous tissue once weekly. You will be given written and verbal instructions on how to do this. Between appointments, you will have unrestricted access to our team of experts via email, text and phone and they will answer any and all of your questions during your weight loss journey. You will check in with your prescriber at 4, 8 and 12 weeks to monitor your response to treatment.

Are There Risks Or Side Effects With Taking Tirzepatide?

Side effects from Tirzepatide are mostly gastrointestinal related and can include nausea, indigestion, diarrhea or constipation. These can range from mild to moderate and usually subside with time. Rare, but serious adverse events may include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, gastroparesis, or acute kidney injury.  Patients with a personal or family history of MENII (Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2) or MTC (medullary thyroid carcinoma) are not candidates for tirzepatide use.  Woman who are pregnant or working towards pregnancy or breast feeding are not candidates for treatment. If you are on oral contraceptives, you will need an additional method of contraceptive, like a barrier method. You will be thoroughly screened prior to any prescribing to ensure that treatment is safe for you.
